Regular cleaning of wooden blinds:
The ideal way for cleaning wooden blinds on a regular basis is by dusting them with a clean soft cloth or by using a vacuum cleaner brush attachment. Don’t use the vacuum cleaner on your blinds without this attachment as it could damage your blinds. This should be done at least once a week. Clean both sides of the slats by turning the wooden blinds. This way the wood blinds will keep looking fresh and dirt free.

Deep cleaning of wooden blinds:
For deep cleaning wooden blinds, remove them & then lay them on a floor. You may use a wood cleaning product but avoid using liquid cleaners completely. A dusting spray with a soft cloth can be used to polish wooden window blinds. Spray lightly with the cleaner, and then gently mop the slats clean. Turn the blinds to clean both sides. In case you do not wish to take them down, you can wash them even while they are in hanging position. For cleaning wooden blinds, slightly dampen a blind duster. You may even use a lint-free rag. Now use a mild detergent or a soap solution which is oil based. Now wash each side of every slat. Next, rinse by using the same tool after soaking it in clear water. Rinse out your tool time after time for effective clean-up. Finally, dry the slats by using a dry, soft non lint cloth.

Precautionary measures:

• Never exert too much pressure while cleaning wooden blinds or you may damage them.
• Wooden blinds will warp in case they are exposed to too much moisture or water.
• In case you are using a vacuum cleaner for wooden blinds cleaning, ensure that the soft brush attachment is placed on the hose. Now run it very lightly over the slats when they are in their up position & then when they are in their down position.
• Be careful as some vacuums may even damage the slats.
• Any stains on slats can be gently wiped away with a wet soft cloth.
• Move from left to right or vice versa while dusting flat blinds. Use descending strokes while dusting vertical blinds.
